Ancaster Heritage days Soccer Tournament

This years’ tournament represents the sixth annual edition of the Ancaster Heritage Days Tournament. We are expecting roughly 250 teams from across Ontario representing kids from U8-U18.

The weekend always represents a celebration of soccer passion and the kids always impress with their efforts and smiles. We expect to host 5,000 participants and a further 10,000 spectators and parents on each of the days of the tournament. This years’ tournament coincides with the start of the FIFA world cup, and as a result we are sure to see many fans displaying their team colours throughout the tournament.

SATURDAY JUNE 11, 2011

Rumours of War:

Have you heard the rumours? Just the other day my neighbour told me that they heard the Americans want to claim this land as theirs! This, just as we are feeling settled and happy in our new bustling village.

This was the talk 200 years ago in Ancaster and during Heritage Days this year, we will reenact some of the events of those days. There will be a civilian encampment on Wilson Street across from Village Auto. During the parade and later events, period costumed settlers will mingle with the public and hopefully attempt to have them “enlist”. In accordance with custom, those recruited will receive one replica shilling as payment.

Talk to the citizens who you will meet on the street, come and watch the drilling of the new recruits at the encampment at 1:00PM. Learn what is happening and what rumours of war they may have heard. Who knows what could happen by next year’s Heritage Days!
