2011 WINNER

This year, the Heritage Days Committee had an exciting challenge for Ancaster Elementary school children. The children were given the honour of naming the Board Room of the newly renovated Hammill House which is now the home of Ancaster Minor Sports. They were asked to pick a resident of Ancaster with some historical significance to Ancaster as well as sports affiliation.

Once again the local students submitted some wonderful entries. The most popular choice was local Olympic Snowboarder, Brad Martin. The committee, consisting of Heritage days Members, Councillor Lloyd Ferguson and members of the Ancaster Minor Sports Committee all agreed that Brad’s name was a perfect choice; however, because so many students chose him the committee was stuck as to how to pick a winner.

Luckily Brad was in town and was delighted to have been chosen as the winner. He readily agreed to read each essay and pick the one that he felt was the most factual and appealed to him.

Brad’s choice was Evan Fox of St. Ann’s School.

Evan will receive a prize of $100.00 and will ride in the parade with Brad on Heritage Days.
